My Bachelor thesis was part of the lowland grassland restoration project of this division, see here. I analyzed if it is possible to transfer invertebrates with the hay transfer methods implemented to restore extensively managed grasslands.
For my Master thesis I will work with ground-nesting wild bees in collaboration with the Agroscope in Reckenholz. The aim of the project is to asses which environmental characteristics and management practices promotes nesting of ground-nesting bees. Therefore I will compare nesting incidence and diversity of ground-nesting bees between perennial flower strips, arable crop fields (winter wheat) and grass strips. Further, I will try to analyze which vegetation and soil characteristics drives nesting and diversity of ground-nesting bees.
